Evidence that I have not only been shying away from productivity, I have been running in the opposite direction every time I see it approaching. Just like my prom date does every time he sees me.

So I was having lunch with Helen the other day.

Helen is from Fremont. She went to Mission, I went to Washington.

We both go to Berkeley, and met through mutual friends.

Apparently, we are from the same city in China, and came to the US at about the same time.

We lived just across the river from each other, and our fathers both went to university there.

"I don't live in Fremont anymore," she says. "I'm in Union City now."

"Get out!" I say.

Turns out, she now lives two houses down from me.

Abandoned Amazon warehouse

Half of me is is indignant that these have not been donated to a school or library and the rest of me is angry that people don't abandon warehouses where I live because OMG I WANT TO BULLDOZE THOSE BOOKS HOME.

 Dear LJ,

Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy
failed an exam,
failed to study for another exam,
fell on my ass,
fell on all fours,
found the perfect pillow conformation that resulted in the awesomest nap of my life (one horizontal, one vertical over it in a t-shape).

It was a good day.

The air is crisp, the cars are gleaming, the hills are green and full of cows, the clouds have a whimsical tilt... it's the perfect day to go joyriding while blasting Hendrix at full bass.

What are you up to today, long-neglected flist?

I am posting my 365 photos on this flickr set. It's really more of a photo-diary.

The rest of the pictures I've posted recently are on my photostream.

If any of you have flickr accounts, please add me, as I am a n00b. :(

By the by, how fucking hilarious was Wanted? Worth it just to hear Morgan Freeman say "Muthafucka."

First of all, check out The Year 2008 in Photographs.
The images are absolutely epic and proof that journalism would not be the same without photography.

My film camera broke, so here are some of the first digital photos I took this year.

I can't believe I've lived here for nearly a year and not explored the mile-stretch of factories behind the house.Collapse )

What do you guys think: should I keep taking digital and post them all on flickr, or keep checking Ebay for a cheap, fully manual SLR? Any recommendations?

I'm not dead guys!

Just been super busy , because in the last week, I have:
1. Worked 35 hours in the salon,
2. Learned how to do NMR, HPLC, and LC-MS,
3. Learned what all of those stand for, (Nuclear magnetic resonance, high pressure liquid chromatograhy, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry.)
4. Watched 46 hour-long episodes of televison. (Most proud of this one!)

Highly recommended if you have the time: if, in the process of various new year's cleaning rituals, you decide to sort through the closet, take the time to look through the pockets of old coats, bags and pants. Here are the treasures I discovered:
8.7 tons of lint
3 lip balms
1 $20 dollar bill
17 pennies
$9.55 in BART tickets
1 copy of Sister Carrie
3 unused gift cards
1 piece of emo poetry from 9th grade which now fits neatly in an ashtray.

This is part of my resolutions, the rest of which are:
1. Get a job/internship/research position,
2. Volunteer,
3. Read a book a month,
4. Go out for good food at least once a week,
5. Go to more gigs,
6. Finish the 365 day photo challenge--all on film,
7. Watch 100 movies.

The above are placed in order of increasing likelihood.

How have your breaks been so far flist? Any interesting presents? Fun vacations? Amusing stories? Exciting new moles? Talk to me! :D
